Sprouts, the first business announced as part of the renovated Burtonsville Crossing shopping center, has set a tentative opening date according to its website.

Per MCPD: “The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is investigating fatal collision that occurred on Saturday, October 28, 2023, near the intersection of Old Columbia Pike and Dustin Road. Detectives have been unable to locate any of the decedent’s family and are asking for the public’s assistance to find possible family members.
At approximately 12:15 p.m., Montgomery County Fire Rescue and MCPD responded to the area for the report of a single vehicle collision. The preliminary investigation by CRU detectives has revealed that a blue 2009 Hyundai Elantra, driven by 73-year-old Robert Hugh Haas, of Windsor Mill, was traveling northbound on Old Columbia Pike when, for unknown reasons, the Haas failed to negotiate the traffic circle at Dustin Road and struck a retaining wall.
Construction continues at Burtonsville Crossing as new businesses look to join Burger King in the shopping center. Sprouts, the first business announced as part of the renovated shopping center, is hoping to open by the end of this year. A previous opening date of November 10th was floated around by the company, but it doesn’t look likely that It will occur by then. Moby Dick House of Kabob is the most recent tenant to sign on according to the EDENS website. EDENS also included Ulta , known for its variety of beauty and skin care products, as an upcoming tenant.
They will will be joining the previously announced Domain Fitness & Performance, which is led by a group that includes former NBA player Jason Miskiri. Miskiri also owns several restaurants in Silver Spring, including the Angry Jerk, The Breakfast Club, and Society Restaurant & Lounge. It will be located adjacent to Sprouts. A representative from EDENS also confirmed to us that TJ Maxx will be opening a location in the shopping center in 2024. TJ Maxx will be located across from where the still-open-during-renovations Burger King stands. Creative Outlets Arts Center announced that they’ll be moving into the shopping center from their previous Montgomery Mall location that closed in Bethesda in the summer.
Montgomery County Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal collision that occurred Saturday afternoon. According to police, “At approximately 12:15 p.m., on Saturday, October 28, 2023, Montgomery County Fire Rescue and MCPD responded to the intersection of Old Columbia Pike and Dustin Road for the report of a single vehicle collision.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that a blue, 2008 Hyundai Elantra was traveling northbound on Old Columbia Pike, near Dustin Road when, for unknown reasons, the driver struck a retaining wall. The driverofthe Hyundai, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Montgomery County DepartmentofPolice – Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision.”
Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section have identified a 15-year-old as the individual responsible for making the bomb threat against Paint Branch High School on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
At approximately 10:36 am, 3rd District officers, K-9 units, and Community Engagement Officers responded to the location for the report of a bomb threat that was made over the phone.
The Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Hassan Bangura, a missing 15-year-old from Burtonsville. Bangura was last seen on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at approximately 7 a.m., in the 14000 block of Castle Blvd. in Burtonsville. He is 5’4″, 120 lbs., with brown eyes, brown hair that is currently styled in short twists, and was last seen wearing black pants, black sneakers, and a black jacket.
