The Montgomery County Department of Police – Missing Person/Cold Case Unit continues to ask for the public’s assistance in locating Olawale Ogunbiyi, a 37-year-old male. Ogunbiyi was last seen on Friday, November 3, 2023, in the 9700 block of Hedin Drive in Silver Spring. He is 5’9″, 179lbs, with black hair and brown. Montgomery Parks invites the public to celebrate the renovation of Hillandale Local Park on November 4, from 1–3 p.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by games and refreshments. Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to help support the St. Camillus Food Pantry. The Hillandale Local Park renovation includes a new restroom and picnic shelter, multi-age playground, log challenge course, lighted basketball courts, a high-performance athletic field, and walking trail, as well as tree preservation and storm water management facilities.

Per MCPD: A 31-year-old Silver Spring man died after he was hit by a vehicle on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. At approximately 4:12 a.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to New Hampshire Avenue near Chalmers Road for the report of a collision involving a pedestrian.
Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) responded to the scene. The preliminary investigation has determined that the driver of a white 2020 Ford Transit Van was traveling southbound on New Hampshire Avenue, when he struck a pedestrian, later identified as Evan Heath Hesekiel, who was crossing southbound New Hampshire Avenue, north of Chalmers Road. The driver remained on scene.
Montgomery County Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Wednesday morning in Hillandale. According to police, “At approximately 4:12 a.m., on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of New Hampshire Avenue and Chalmers Road for the report of a pedestrian struck.

At 4:44am Montgomery County Police issued the following traffic advisory: “TRAFFIC ADVISORY: A traffic collision has southbound New Hampshire Ave. closed at Cresthaven Rd. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route. Expect significant delays.”

The Special Victims Investigations Division is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 16-year-old. Carol Hernandez was last seen on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Hampshire Green Lane in Hillandale/Silver Spring. Hernandez is 5’2″, 145 lbs, with short black hair above the shoulders and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white tank top and blue jean shorts. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.

Per MCPD: A 37-year-old has been arrested and charged with reckless endangerment following a shooting that occurred in the 1700 block of Hampshire Green Lane on Sunday, July 2, 2023. At approximately 2:24 a.m., 3rd District officers were conducting a traffic stop in the area of New Hampshire Avenue and Oakview Lane when they heard the sound of gunshots near their location.
The preliminary investigation revealed that an adult male was in a residential parking lot of the 1700 block of Hampshire Green Lane recklessly firing a handgun with an extended magazine. No injuries were reported.
Montgomery County Police responded to a stabbing on Sunday night at the corner of New Hampshire Ave and Powder Mill Rd (Exxon) in Hillandale. According to MCPD, “The call for a stabbing was received at approximately 10:55 p.m., on Sunday, June 18th, 2023. 3rd District officers responded to the location and located an adult male victim suffering from non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to an area hospital. No suspect(s) are in custody at this time.”
