Wootton High School’s Acappella group, The Acatonics, have done it again. Just a week after winning first place overall, along with best soloist and vocal percussionist, at SingStrong New York, The Acatonics won first place in the prestigious International Competition of High School Acappella (ICHSA) Quarter Final Competition on Saturday Feb. 10th.
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has cancelled all activities and events scheduled to take place at Montgomery County Public Schools for Saturday, February 17. Montgomery County is currently predicted to get as much as 5-8 inches of snow during the overnight hours.

The Montgomery County teacher’s union, Montgomery County Education Association (MCEA), shared with MCPS teachers that Monday, April 22nd has been identified as the snow day make-up day for the school system.
Students in the Montgomery County Students Automotive Trades Foundation (ATF) and Information Technology Foundation (ITF) will sell used cars and computers they have refurbished from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, at Damascus High School. Available vehicles range from $2,495 to $10,995 (full list of available cars below).
Former Montgomery County (MCPS) and current Howard County (HCPSS) Automotive Academy Instructor Thomas Dearstine recently was honored as a Champion for Automotive Education in recognition of his dedication and contributions to high school automotive education. The recognition included a two-year lease for a Toyota BZ4X, Toyota’s electric vehicle.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights organization, today held a press conference in its Maryland office in Baltimore to announce the filing of a complaint challenging the suspension and investigation of three Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) teachers for their speech on Palestine.
