On Wednesday at Seneca Valley High School, a reported sighting of what appeared to be a gun triggered an immediate response, according to a letter sent out to the school community. The incident began when a student observed another student with what was initially believed to be a firearm. In response, a Shelter-in-Place was initiated at 12:42 pm on Wednesday.

On April 22, The Washington Post announced the winners and finalists for its 2025 Principal and Teacher of the Year Awards. MCPS shared that earlier this month, on April 10, Dr. Genevieve Floyd, Director of the Division of Career & Postsecondary Partnerships and Career Advising, welcomed 125 Business Management & Finance students from nine high schools. They came to cheer on and support 25 team members competing in the 2025 Business Pitch Challenge—a “Shark Tank”-style competition for entrepreneurship students. The winners are:
