From the Office of Councilmember Will Jawando: Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando issued the following statement related to allegations that Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Superintendent Dr. Monifa McKnight was asked to step down by members of the Montgomery County Board of Education.
Emergency personnel was called to Wootton High School at approximately 10:50am Monday morning for an unresponsive student in a classroom. According to an email sent home by principal Douglas Nelson, Wootton staff provided aid and emergency response team was called to the school. The student transported to the hospital. The following weekly “Dear Colleague” was sent to all MCPS staff. This letter contains an Action Plan Update on the corrective actions work by superintendent Dr. Monifa B. McKnight and the district to improve the investigations and promotions process in Montgomery County Public Schools:

MCPS has issued a Code Green / Normal Operations Normal operations for Sunday, Jan. 21.
Jeff Rabberman, former head varsity baseball coach at Gaithersburg High School and current athletic director at Quince Orchard High School, will be inducted into the Maryland State Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame.
