Takoma Park Middle School teacher Joe Evans, a longtime Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) educator, will appear as a contestant on Jeopardy! on Tuesday, November 4, representing Montgomery County on one of America’s most beloved quiz shows.

Montgomery County native Gbenga Akinnagbe is once again drawing national attention as Nurse Jackie has climbed into Netflix’s Top 10. The Showtime series, which originally aired from 2009 to 2015, stars Edie Falco as a brilliant but deeply flawed nurse battling addiction. Akinnagbe joined the cast in seasons 3 and 4, portraying Kelly Slater, a fellow nurse at All Saints Hospital whose presence added new layers of tension and camaraderie to the series’ ensemble.

A teacher and musician, Ms. Brown is at the center of a multi-generational musical family. Her mother was a concert violinist, and her father, Ray Brown, was a jazz trumpet player with Stan Kenton. Her husband, Daniel Levitov, is a cellist, and with their twin daughters, Arabella and Imogen, they perform as the Brown/Levitov Family Band, showcasing jazz arrangements by Ray Brown.

The Arts Barn Concert Series presents acclaimed artists from classical and jazz to folk, traditional, global music, and more, offering exceptional performances in an intimate, welcoming setting.

One of Gaithersburg’s most beloved Halloween traditions is back… and it’s bigger, spookier, and more meaningful than ever. The Spooktacular Halloween display known as Spider Manor has returned to the Kentlands at 237 Little Quarry Road, welcoming visitors every day throughout October. It was established in 1996 (preview video below).

Composer and pianist Sam Post and pianist Ralitza Patcheva performed selections from their newly released album The Well-“Tampered” Clavier on Saturday evening, October 18, at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Glen Echo. The concert celebrated the release of their reimagined version of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, which keeps Bach’s original notes intact while transforming the music through fresh rhythmic interpretations. The recording, released Friday on the ACIS label, reimagines all 24 pairs of preludes and fugues from Bach’s first book.
