Winter City Lights, “a magical holiday experience of 1 million twinkling lights spread across 18-acres of an outdoor winter wonderland where it is guaranteed to Winter City snow every night”, returns on Saturday, November 23z This is the largest light show in the Washington DC and Baltimore areas.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of The Blair Witch Project, which premiered in July 1999 and launched the iconic Blair Witch franchise. Though we’ve covered it plenty, some might not know is that this groundbreaking film was primarily shot right here in Montgomery County.

Brown, widely recognized for her role as the teen witch Marnie Piper in the Halloweentown films, is from right here in Gaithersburg.
MCPS has announced that fourteen bands will participate in this year’s Marching Band Showcase, which will take place from noon to 3pm on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Albert Einstein High School.

On October 17th, Miriam Tesfamikael, a biology teacher and the varsity boys basketball coach at Springbrook High School, will be among the competitors. The show will air on the CW at 9 PM.
Get into the spooky spirit early with friends and family at the Tricks For Treats Halloween Night Skate. The free event takes place at the Gaithersburg Skate Park on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 6 to 10 p.m. and is suitable for kids of all ages.

Smile 2, the upcoming psychological supernatural horror film written and directed by Parker Finn, will be in theaters on October 18th. The film, which is a sequel to 2022’s Smile, stars Naomi Scott as a pop singer who begins to experience a series of increasingly disturbing events as she is about to go on tour. Montgomery Count my native Ivan Carlo has told us he has landed a supporting role in the film (movie trailer below).
The City of Gaithersburg presents its 31st annual celebration of Oktoberfest on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from noon to 5 p.m. The festival takes place in and around the Arts Barn, Kentlands Mansion, Kentlands Village Green and along Main Street and Inspiration Lane.
