Cool down with a cold one at Montgomery Parks’ Acoustic and Ales outdoor happy hour series! Enjoy  a night of live music, locally crafted beer, and food.

Adults and children welcome to Montgomery Parks’ ‘Acoustics and Ales’ Outdoor Happy Hour Series. Beer, food, and non alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. Registration is not required. Parking availability may vary based on location, so please use the links provided to the right of the page to map out your arrival! Parks are accessible by public transportation. The Pike Central Farm Market opens for the 2022 season on Saturday, April 30th from 9am until 1:30pm every Saturday until December 17th. The Market hosts a wide variety of vendors and is conveniently located in the parking lot next to Bark Social at 935 Prose Street in North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose.  The Market is one of the largest farmers markets in the region, hosting dozens of vendors and artisan food producers. It features music, numerous kid’s activities, demos by local chefs, local Maryland winery and farm brewery tastings, table seating and more.

Per Pike Central Farm Market: “In 2011 our second market, Pike Central Farm Market opened as an integral part of the Pike & Rose complex in North Bethesda, Maryland. Located on a parking lot next to Bark Social at Pike & Rose, the farm market hosts over 30 vendors. The market features table seating, music, local Maryland winery and farm brewery tastings, kids club activities, chef demos, a special Tuesday Thanksgiving market and more.”


The Poolesville Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market is set to open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, May 7, at 19701 Fisher Ave, commonly known as the Whalen Commons. It’s a locally run farmers market full of produce, art, soaps, meat and much more. “Come by to see our fun vendors or just to experience the town.”

The parks are packed with activities for all ages this weekend! Check out these events happening Friday, April 22, through Sunday, April 24, per Montgomery Parks.

Start the weekend at Acoustics and Ales in Elm Street Urban Park in downtown Bethesda. Enjoy local craft beer, poutine, and pizza while listening to live music or playing games. Acoustics and Ales is Friday, April 22, from 5 pm to 7:30 pm.


The Gaithersburg Book Festival is an annual all-day celebration of books, writers and literary excellence. One of the premier literary events in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, the 2022 Festival is scheduled for Saturday, May 21, at Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm (506 S. Frederick Ave.) in Gaithersburg, Md.

Activities will include author appearances, discussions and book signings; writing workshops; a Children’s Village; onsite sales of new and used books; literary exhibitors and food, drink, ice cream and more. Admission is FREE, and free accessible shuttle service will be available from Shady Grove Metro and Lakeforest Mall.


KID Museum will open in its new flagship site at Bethesda Metro Center — a brand new, 28,000 square foot facility “created to foster the “Mind of a Maker” and empower the next generation with the skills to invent the future.” The grand opening event will take place on May 22, 2022 at 3 Bethesda Metro Center, Suite 140.

The state-of-the-art makerspace is purpose-built for kids ages 4-14 to explore coding, robotics, engineering design, and hands-on maker learning, with the capacity to welcome more than 100,000 visitors every year. There will be grand opening events, becoming a member, or sponsoring us to help all kids discover a love of exploring, creating, and collaborating to become makers of the future. Tickets for the grand opening event must be pre-purchased and cost $15. Drop-in tickets will not be available for this event.
