Lone Oak Farm Brewing Company is teaming up with Special Olympics Maryland to host the Pint Size Polar Bear Plunge on Saturday, July 20th from 12:00 to 5:00 pm as a 6-month kickoff to the 2025 MSP Polar Bear Plunge. The event raised $36,000 for Special Olympics Maryland last year.
An Olney summer tradition returns on August 6th when local first responders and the community join to celebrate Olney’s 29th National Night Out (NNO), from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Shops at Fair Hill, located at Olney-Sandy Spring and Spartan Roads.

There will be a free Peace Day Celebration at Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park (1800 Piccard Dr,) in Rockville on Sunday, September 22. It was originally scheduled for today, July 14, 2024, but has been postponed due to extreme heat. The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair returns on Friday, August 9th and will run through Saturday, August 17th. This will be the 75th annual fair and its fourth year back after having to cancel for the first time in its 70+ year history in 2020 due to Covid restrictions.
Montgomery Parks is opening a new mountain biking course, Wheaton Gravity Mountain Bike Park, to draw thrill-seeking riders to Wheaton Regional Park. The grand opening takes place on Sunday, July 21 from 11am until 12pm (Rain date: Sunday, July 28, 2024, 11am- 12pm). The event will take place in the Wheaton Regional Park Shorefield area (2000 Shorefield Road, Wheaton, Md., 20902). The mountain bike park is located in the woods behind the Adventure Playground.
