Andy’s Pizza is set to officially open its new Kentlands location at 145 Commerce Pl. in Gaithersburg on Wednesday, November 19. The restaurant is taking over the space that was previously home to MOD Pizza, located next to Chopt.
A Germantown man won $62,576 playing the Maryland Lottery’s Racetrax game on November 7. He placed the winning $4.80 wager at My Dollar & More, 250 North Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg, which will receive a $625 bonus for selling the ticket. Full story below courtesy MD Lottery: (more…)

Peterson Cos. is moving forward with its long-anticipated redevelopment vision for Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg with Schematic Development Plan (SDP) that details how several portions of the Washingtonian Center could be reshaped over the next decade. A new Traffic Impact Study (TIS) submitted with the plan provides the most detailed look yet at what’s being proposed, including the demolition of the current Kohl’s building and the construction of multiple new residential communities around the lake. Montgomery Village will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2026 with a yearlong series of community events and activities organized by the Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF).

Permanent signage is now up for Andy’s Pizza, which will soon open at 145 Commerce Square Place in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood. The restaurant takes over the space formerly occupied by MOD Pizza, which closed in March 2024.

An 18-wheeler is currently stopped, possibly while attempting to make a U-turn, at southbound Route 355 (Frederick Rd) and Professional Drive in Gaithersburg. Montgomery County Police are on scene.
Vehicles traveling on 355 are being directed to turn right onto Professional Drive and cut through the 7-Eleven parking lot in order to continue along 355. Drivers should expect major delays in the area until the truck is cleared.
Signage for Fish Taco, the popular local restaurant known for its Baja-inspired cuisine, went up earlier this year at The Shops of Potomac Valley in Gaithersburg (12121 Darnestown Rd). A representative for the family-owned business shared that interior construction is set to begin soon, with an anticipated opening sometime in spring 2026.

Demolition work is underway inside Lakeforest Mall as crews continue preparing the long-shuttered property for full teardown. Recent photos from inside the building show active interior demolition as the site moves closer to its next phase of redevelopment (photos available below). (more…)
