“Remember that guy who used to paint at Rio?” Many do. If you walked through Rio in Gaithersburg between 2000 and 2016, you likely saw George Petridis working on one of his beautiful paintings, with many of his other works on display in the atrium just outside the movie theater. For more than 15 years, Petridis showcased his art and continually crafted new pieces, often interacting with those who stopped to appreciate his work amid the bustle of the Rio crowd.

The City of Gaithersburg is set to present the 19th Annual Jubilation Day Gospel Concert on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 3 to 7 p.m. The event will take place at the Concert Pavilion at City Hall, located at 31 South Summit Avenue in front of City Hall.
