Juliana Neumann has always had the dream of attending New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. As a 17 year old junior at Northwest High School she has gotten a jumpstart on her dream by opening her own boutique in the Kentlands neighborhood of Gaithersburg.

Her new boutique, Bon Ju Ju is now open at 212 Main Street, in the location that was formerly home to Karen’s Rocks and Rags, which was also a women’s clothing store. When Juliana learned that her friend’s mom’s shop, Karen’s Rocks and Rags would be closing due to the family moving, Juliana jumped at the opportunity to take over.

Much like the Rockville/N.Bethesda location, the Kentlands location will feature entertainment such as live music, comedy shows, dramatic readings and other community events. From the Java Nation website: Serving the best artisan coffees and traditional food made with love and delivered with first class service. That has continued to be our mission since our inception in 2012. The concept for Java Nation came to creation when a local resident realized an absence for a great cup of coffee in the community. Beyond our focus to serve freshly roasted coffee to our local community, we source local produce, use environmentally friendly products, and support work from local artists.

It has been nearly three years since we reported that CVS would be taking over the old Tommy Joe’s/Boulevard Tavern/Brasserie Beck/O’Donnell’s location in the Kentlands.Construction is progressing, as the frame of the building is about halfway up. There’s no timetable for when it will be ready, but it could be ready to go by the end of the summer.

Gaithersburg Councilmember Neil Harris told us that CVS would be moving forward with the plan back in 2019.  Demolition of the old building occurred in November with construction starting soon after.
