Maryland’s sports wagering market contributed $88.9 million to the state in Fiscal Year 2025, a 47.4% increase over the previous year, with $9.2 million generated in June alone. The state’s share supports the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future education fund, and starting June 1, mobile operators began paying a higher tax rate under new legislation passed during the 2025 General Assembly session. The Dough Roller’s story began in 1980, when founder Bill Gibbs envisioned a family-friendly eatery on the front porch of Ocean City’s Breakers Hotel. Recognizing the appeal of a casual yet inviting atmosphere for visitors, he established the first Dough Roller, laying the groundwork for what would become an Ocean City institution. The restaurant even briefly had a location right here in Montgomery County.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal is once again warning Marylanders of the serious and life-altering dangers posed by illegal fireworks following multiple incidents over the Independence Day holiday, most notably a tragic injury to a young teen and the shutdown of an unauthorized fireworks show in Harford County.

Attorney General Anthony Brown has joined 20 other attorneys general in filing an amicus brief supporting a lawsuit challenging the EPA’s termination of the Environmental and Climate Justice Block Grant Program, which was created under the Inflation Reduction Act to aid communities disproportionately impacted by pollution and climate change.
