Prince George’s County Executive-elect Aisha Braveboy named Dr. Shawn Joseph as interim superintendent of Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS). Joseph previously served as PGCPS deputy superintendent for teaching and learning from 2014 – 2016.

Governor Wes Moore has requested a Major Disaster Declaration from the White House to help Allegany and Garrett counties recover from mid-May flooding, which caused over $15.8 million in damage to homes, infrastructure, and public utilities, and could qualify the region for federal assistance and mitigation funding. During our Ocean City vacations, we often visit Dumser’s Dairyland for a frozen treat (pictured you’ll see cherry-dipped soft serve from earlier this week). The Maryland Comptroller’s Office announced that the state collected over $17.5 million in adult-use cannabis sales tax revenue from January to March 2025, with the Central Region generating the highest share. A portion of the revenue is allocated to community reinvestment, public health, business assistance, and counties, with the remainder—over $5.3 million—directed to the state’s General Fund.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flood Watch for Montgomery County and the surrounding area from Friday evening through late tonight. 1 to 5 inches of rain are possible, with flash flooding likely in low-lying and urban areas. (more…)
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) will introduce its new online licensing system, MD Outdoors, on June 24, MDNR shared on Wednesday. This centralized system replaces the current system, COMPASS. MD Outdoors will continue to offer products for all outdoor activities, including all Maryland hunting and fishing licenses and associated stamps and permits, boat and off-road vehicle renewal registration, and other services.
