During our Ocean City vacations, we often visit Dumser’s Dairyland for a frozen treat (pictured you’ll see cherry-dipped soft serve from earlier this week). On Thursday, Governor Wes Moore, alongside Maryland utility companies and nonprofit partners, announced the launch of a $19 million Customer Relief Fund—funded by Exelon—to provide one-time energy bill assistance for limited- and middle-income residents across BGE, Pepco, and Delmarva Power service areas in response to rising energy costs. The Maryland Comptroller’s Office announced that the state collected over $17.5 million in adult-use cannabis sales tax revenue from January to March 2025, with the Central Region generating the highest share. A portion of the revenue is allocated to community reinvestment, public health, business assistance, and counties, with the remainder—over $5.3 million—directed to the state’s General Fund.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) will introduce its new online licensing system, MD Outdoors, on June 24, MDNR shared on Wednesday. This centralized system replaces the current system, COMPASS. MD Outdoors will continue to offer products for all outdoor activities, including all Maryland hunting and fishing licenses and associated stamps and permits, boat and off-road vehicle renewal registration, and other services.
