U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has stated that a 1.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in Spencerville, near Cloverly and Burtonsville, in Montgomery County on Monday Night. USGS reports that the 5.9-depth earthquake occurred shortly before 11:30 pm on Monday night near Spencerville, Maryland.
The information in this investigative update is preliminary and will be supplemented or corrected during the course of the investigation.

On Friday, a hit-and-run crash on I-270 at around 5 a.m. claimed the lives of Luis Isaac Bran, 17, of Gaithersburg, and Rebeca Gabriela Vasquez Moreno, 16, from El Salvador. They were passengers in a 2018 Toyota RAV4 that was struck by a BMW, which then fled the scene. In the past 24 hours, a GoFundMe fundraiser started by the victims’ families has raised over $12,000. The Washington Post has released its list of ‘12 Best Dive Bars’ in the DC area and two Maryland bars, both located in Montgomery County, have made the list. The Post defines a dive bar as having “dim lights, cheap drinks, friendly (if occasionally grouchy) staff, good music.” While there are many great places that fit this mold and didn’t make the list, here are the two that did:
