There are 18 Montgomery Counties in the United States, and at least 13 of the 18 are named after Richard Montgomery- a major general in the Continental Army killed in the 1775 Battle of Quebec. Washington County leads the country with 31 counties- all named for George Washington, the first president of the United States.

The Maryland Attorney General’s Office released the following press release on Wednesday, December 13: “Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown today applauded the Maryland Board of Public Works’s approval of compensation for Grant Jones, who, in 1993, was wrongfully accused and convicted of attempted rape and unjustly imprisoned for four years.
