New estimates from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that federal employment in Maryland declined by an estimated 10,300 jobs in October and November 2025 combined, contributing to a total loss of about 24,900 federal positions in the state since January, while private sector employment fell by 4,400 jobs over the same two months.

Maryland’s six casinos generated $159.8 million in slot machine and table game revenue in December 2025, down 2.6% from December 2024, with $67.9 million contributed to the state, including $49.0 million for the Education Trust Fund.
