Governor Wes Moore announced that Maryland’s Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer Program, known as SUN Bucks, provided $72.5 million in food benefits to 604,869 students across the state between June and August 2025, the highest participation and investment since the program began. The initiative, which automatically enrolled most eligible children, aims to combat food insecurity during summer months when school meals are unavailable. (more…)


Attorney General Anthony G. Brown joined a bipartisan coalition of 18 attorneys general in opposing a proposed class action settlement they argue would unfairly benefit Capital One while shortchanging customers who lost more than $2 billion in unpaid interest. The coalition contends the deal provides inadequate compensation, fails to require changes to Capital One’s practices, and should be rejected by the court. (more…)


Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich announced a $10 million package of early childhood education initiatives that includes a $6.125 million Head Start and Early Head Start grant, a $4 million facility loan fund for child care providers, and a shared resources collaborative for small providers. Maryland is taking a major step forward in creating parks where everybody, regardless of ability, can play, thanks to a new online resource called Playgrounds for All! Maryland. Currently, the website does not include any playgrounds in Montgomery County, but has several nearby.
