On Saturday afternoon at approximately 3:25pm, the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department responded to a technical rescue situation on the 13700 block of Central Avenue, Largo, at Six Flags America. Park staff worked alongside Technical Rescue units to safely evacuate about 32 riders who were stuck on a ride.

George Erotokritos Galiachatos, a pillar of the local business community, has passed away at the age of 89. He was the longtime owner of The Lincoln Charcoal Inn in Wheaton, MD, a beloved local landmark for many years and one of the first restaurants in Maryland to feature indoor charcoal cooking.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Inspector General announced the recovery of about $520 million in suspected fraudulent unemployment insurance payments made during the COVID-19 pandemic, which were returned to the state of Maryland after being frozen by a financial institution.
