On Wednesday, Sept. 3, MCDOT began an emergency closure of Wasche Road from W. Hunter Road to Martinsburg Road in Dickerson to replace failing twin corrugated pipes with twin concrete pipes, with local traffic allowed up to 19754 Wasche Road, a signed detour in place, weekday work hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the closure expected to last about three weeks. The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is reminding residents that, as of Tuesday, July 1, drivers are prohibited from making right turns at red traffic signals in designated downtown and town center areas across the county. The policy, part of the Safe Streets Act of 2023 (Bill 11-23), aims to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety in some of Montgomery County’s busiest corridors. (more…)


According to the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT), more than 200 “No Turn on Red” signs have recently been installed across Montgomery County as part of the Safe Streets Act of 2023 (MC Bill 11-23). The measure requires MCDOT to add the signs to designated traffic lights unless a safety risk is identified. (more…)


The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will host its annual Bicycle Donation Drive on Friday, Oct. 3, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Rockville to collect previously owned bikes, which will be refurbished and distributed to residents through the County’s Bike Match Program, Terrific Kids, and other partners. Beginning on or about September 22, 2025, Sligo Creek Parkway, south of Wayne Avenue, will be closed for approximately two months as Purple Line crews begin track installation at the intersection. Pedestrian access will remain open through the closure.
