Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to an overturned heavy equipment/excavator with fuel spill at the C&O Canal, about one mile north of Swains Lock in Travilah.  According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the incident resulted in fuel spilling into the canal and HazMat is currently assisting. There were no injuries reported. We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a collision involving three vehicles at approximately 6am at W. Diamond Ave and Bureau Dr. at the NIST entrance on Tuesday morning.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, three patients were evaluated. All three sustained non-life threatening injuries. Some lanes were blocked due to the crash with residual delays. The crash is under investigation.


A large tree down at Dale Drive and Grace Church Road has caused power outages in the Silver Spring/Montgomery Hills/Forest Glen area on Monday evening. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS, multiple people were briefly stuck on the elevators at the Forest Glen Metro station.

Montgomery County Police tweeted the following at 5:53pm: “TRAFFIC ADVISORY: A down tree and wires has Dale Dr. closed between Crosby Rd. and Woodland Dr. Expect significant delays. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route.” We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a car fire in a parking garage at the intersection of Auburn Ave and Norfolk Ave in Bethesda. According to MCFRS Assistant Chief David Pazos, “MCFRS units located a vehicle fire on the 3rd floor of the parking garage. Fire has been extinguished with no occupants injured. Smoke is being removed, and FD presence should be downsized shortly.” There were no reported injuries.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the 13500 blk of W. Old Baltimore Rd, near Lake Ridge Dr in Boyds for the report of a fallen tree on a vehicle. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the person that was driving vehicle is out and there were no serious injuries.

W. Old Baltimore Rd is blocked between Lake Ridge Dr and Broadway Ave. We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the outer loop of I-495 between Connecticut Ave and Rockville Pike, in the area of Cedar Lane, for the report of a jackknifed tractor with fuel spill on Saturday, September 23, around 8am.  According to the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security, this will be an extended incident and drivers should seek an alternate route if possible.

According to Montgomery County Police, Old Georgetown Road is closed at Glenwood Rd. Drivers should seek an alternate route and expect significant delays.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) responded to a collision with vehicle fire on Friday, September 22 on Great Seneca Highway, near Wisteria Dr. in Germantown. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, “Several people left the scene quickly, otherwise vehicle fire is being being extinguished. It appears people that left the scene are in the company of police.
