The Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection is warning residents about costly and ineffective transmission repairs at some local shops, where drivers are paying thousands for fixes that may ultimately leave their vehicles in worse condition. Officials advise consumers to ask questions, consider full transmission rebuilds over partial repairs, and seek second opinions to avoid unnecessary expenses.

On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at approximately 9:18 pm, the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) received a 911 call from a mother reporting that her 8-year-old autistic daughter was missing from their home. MCPD shared the story of community members and 5th District officers safely locating the young girl.

On Thursday, June 19, 2025, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to 600 incidents, including 295 medical calls and 247 fire-related calls, more than 200 of which occurred between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m., mostly involving downed trees and wires. (more…)
