The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has been awarded more than $2.1 million in federal and state funding to support programs aimed at lowering energy costs for low and moderate-income residents and expanding the County’s tree canopy.

A coordinated traffic enforcement effort across Montgomery County and surrounding jurisdictions resulted in hundreds of stops and violations as agencies focused on improving roadway safety during Distracted Driving Awareness Month. The multi-agency initiative took place on April 8, targeting major roadways including Georgia Avenue, New Hampshire Avenue, University Boulevard, and MD-200. The effort brought together local and state law enforcement agencies in a unified push to identify and address dangerous driving behaviors, with a particular emphasis on distracted driving.
