Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich announced a new $2,000 Arte y Alma grant program for Wheaton elementary schools, sponsored by the Wheaton Arts and Entertainment District and Wheaton Urban District, to fund Hispanic cultural programming for students and families during the 2025-26 school year. Montgomery County has long been a breeding ground for athletic excellence, but this week, the spotlight belonged squarely to the wrestling mat. Two local products, Helen Maroulis of Rockville and Kyle Snyder (Good Counsel alumnus), each captured world championships in dramatic fashion, reinforcing their status as all-time greats in U.S. wrestling history.

12:54pm Update: Officers are clearing the school and @MCPS has changed Kennedy HS to a Hold status as officers wrap up.
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) shared at 12:15pm that Kennedy High School in Silver Spring was placed on ‘Hold’ status after a report of a firearm. According to policed no weapon was seen upon investigation.
