Jeffrey’s Subs & Pizza at 15547 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville, which operated as Jerry’s Subs & Pizza for three decades before rebranding in 2020, has closed permanently. The contents of the restaurant will be auctioned off next week.
Eduardo Valdivia, a federal agent, has been convicted on six counts of second-degree rape and two counts of fourth-degree sexual offense by a jury, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney Office. The jury reached its decision after deliberating for just over three hours. Valdivia’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for October 14 at 1:30 pm.
Thursday night’s game between the Silver Spring-Takoma Park Thunderbolts and the Metro SoCo Braves at Montgomery Blair Baseball Stadium was canceled after the field was sprayed with water from a fire hose. The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred late last night in Germantown. Officers from the 5th District responded to a call at approximately 10:37 pm Wednesday night regarding a shooting in the 20600 block of Shadyside Way.
Montgomery County has activated an Extreme Heat Alert for Thursday, 7/17 from 11am to 8pm. Expect the heat index to be above 95ºF. Stay hydrated and take precautions to protect yourself & pets from heat-related illness. (more…)
