The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies, while serving a Writ of Restitution (eviction), found an unconscious individual in a residence with a gas stove emitting gas. After securing the residence, waking the individual, and de-escalating their agitation, deputies ensured the person was safely transported to an emergency facility for necessary mental health treatment.

Montgomery County has awarded a $9,016 MOVE grant to IT consulting firm Powersolv to support its relocation from Reston, Virginia, to Rockville, where the company plans to expand operations and add new jobs as part of the County’s ongoing efforts to attract and retain technology businesses.

Cycling enthusiasts in Washington DC and Montgomery County area have been embarking on a long-distance ride that stretches all the way to Pittsburgh. By connecting two distinguished trails– the Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Canal Towpath and the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP)– cyclists can experience a continuous, car-free route spanning approximately 334.5 miles without ever needing to ride on a road.



Montgomery County passed legislation in 2024 to address environmental, noise, and health concerns related to gas-powered leaf blowers and vacuums. Sales of gas-powered equipment have been banned since July 1, 2024, and the ban on their use begins in just a few weeks, effective July 1, 2025. (more…)


Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, County Council President Kate Stewart, other Councilmembers, and State and local officials joined together for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the 6th District Police Station on June 2. The new Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) station replaces an outdated facility with a new, sustainably designed, energy-efficient building. It is located at 222 Paramount Park Drive in Gaithersburg and serves the Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village communities. (more…)
