Update: Montgomery County Police are saying that a Poolesville homeowner shot and killed an intruder on Monday morning.

WTOP reports that the man called 911 around 9am to report that someone was breaking into his home. Police spokeswoman Shira Goff said that gunshots were then heard during the 911 call and officers found a dead man inside the house when they arrived at the scene.


Many were disappointed when the City of Gaithersburg announced the cancellation of its Oktoberfest celebration in the Kentlands neighborhood. That was followed up by the City of Rockville cancelling Rocktobierfest a few days later.

Comus Inn looks to fill the void with a five day celebration that starts on Wednesday, September 22nd and goes until Sunday, September 26th.

The Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce that a new Town Manager has been hired to lead the municipality’s management and operations. Seasoned municipal official Tony Tomasello will serve as Town Manager, effective August 30, 2021. Tomasello was selected from a group of candidates who applied during the recent recruitment process, which was coordinated and conducted by the Town’s Commissioners.


On Tuesday, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) announced today that it is working with the Loudoun County Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure (DTCI) on a study of White’s Ferry’s operations.

Yesterday, the owner of White’s Ferry since February, Chuck Kuhn (who is also the owner of JK Moving), spoke at a forum on Wednesday evening at the Poolesville Town Hall to provide updates about the ferry’s future.
