A new locally owned restaurant has quietly opened its doors in Poolesville, bringing authentic Thai flavors to the heart of town. Thai Commons is now in a soft opening phase at 19635 Fisher Avenue, offering a menu rooted in traditional Thai cooking and family recipes.
Ray Castro’s life story is one that feels especially relatable in Montgomery County. He was a kid who grew up here, did everything “right” on paper, built a stable career, and then eventually realized stability alone wasn’t enough.
The Poolesville Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a community rally to support reopening White’s Ferry on Tuesday, December 30, at 2 p.m. The rally marks the fifth anniversary of the ferry’s closure and aims to highlight its importance to local businesses and the regional economy.

White’s Ferry, a historic Potomac River crossing between Montgomery County, Maryland, and Loudoun County, Virginia, has remained closed since December 28, 2020, due to an unresolved dispute over landing rights on the Virginia side of the river.

K2 Cafe is expanding. The popular Poolesville-based cafe will open a second location at the Clarksburg Market, located at 23335 Frederick Road in Clarksburg, bringing its Himalayan-inspired bowls, wraps, and specialty drinks to another Montgomery County community. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded Sunday to a fire at a two-story home built in 1897 along the 8900 block of Beallsville Road near Jerusalem Road at Muldoon Farm in Poolesville. The main farmhouse sustained significant damage after smoke and flames were reported coming from the structure. (more…)
