Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a house at a two-story single-family home on Wasche Rd near W Hunter Rd in Dickerson/Poolesville.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, firefighters from multiple MCFRS units responded to the non-hydrant area. The occupants evacuated, but one adult suffered burns and was transported as a Priority 2 patient. The fire was extinguished, and one family was displaced. A tanker fill site was set up on Martinsburg Rd.


The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on February 21, 2025, in which 51-year-old Marcos Anton Solorzano Ramirez of Gaithersburg was pronounced dead at the scene after his Acura Integra collided with a Ford Transit van on Whites Ferry Road near Partnership Road in Poolesville. The Maryland Public Service Commission will hold a public hearing on February 4, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in Beallsville and virtually, to gather comments on Chaberton Solar Sugarloaf I, LLC’s proposal to build a 4.0 MW solar facility in Dickerson, MD, with additional written comments accepted until February 7.

The Environmental Finance Center at the University of Maryland announced that the Town of Poolesville was one of 17 Maryland municipalities honored at the Sustainable Maryland Awards Ceremony at the Maryland Municipal League’s annual Fall Conference last month. The Town was certified at the Bronzelevel. Sustainable Poolesville Chairman Don Street pictured accepting the award.
