The Montgomery County Council approved an amendment to add Timberlawn to Montgomery County’s Master Plan for Historic Preservation. The vote follows the May 2025 recommendation by the Montgomery County Planning Board to historically designate the North Bethesda house where Eunice Kennedy Shriver launched Camp Shriver, a day camp for children with intellectual disabilities that inspired the creation of Special Olympics.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has arrested 27-year-old Moesha Gardener of North Bethesda for falsely reporting a home invasion using an AI-generated image, which prompted a large police response. Gardener admitted the incident was a prank and now faces charges for making false statements to authorities. (more…)


The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) announced that 18-year-old Joshua Carter has been arrested in Fayetteville, North Carolina, in connection with the September 21 shooting death of 29-year-old Akwalabeng Fontava in North Bethesda, while a second suspect, 25-year-old Justin Michael Greene Collins, remains at large. 12:55pm update: 2D officers have two students in custody following the report of a gun on campus. A BB gun was recovered during the investigation. @MCPS has lifted the lockdown at Northwood HS. A news release will be distributed with more detailed information.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has released an “incident alert” that involves MCPS placing Northwood High School, currently located on Old Georgetown Rd. in North Bethesda, on lockdown while police investigate a report of a gun. This incident is separate from the earlier call, which was cleared by police and unfounded.
