The City of Rockville is offering $1.5 million in funding through its Fiscal Year 2027 Community Services and Enrichment Grant Program for local nonprofit organizations, with applications opening Monday, Sept. 8 and closing Friday, Oct. 17.

The City of Rockville will hold a 9/11 remembrance ceremony at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, at Courthouse Square Park to honor the 11 Montgomery County residents who lost their lives in the attacks, featuring a presentation of colors and remarks by Mayor Monique Ashton.
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) responded to a shooting on Sunday in Rockville where one person sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital.
Montgomery County is reminding residents that the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is offering free back-to-school vaccinations for children from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade at multiple locations across the County through the end of September. These vaccines are available at no cost to County residents missing any required immunizations, and parents are encouraged to schedule an appointment to ensure their children are ready for the 2025-2026 school year. Songwriters in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. are invited to compete for $10,000 and a chance to perform on one of the region’s premier stages. Applications are now open for the 10th Anniversary Bernard/Ebb Songwriting Awards, founded by Cathy Bernard to honor her uncle, Broadway legend Fred Ebb (Cabaret, Chicago, New York, New York). The competition culminates in a live concert featuring the finalists at the Music Center at Strathmore right here in Montgomery County on April 24, 2026.
