Last week we let you know that Trader Joe’s is set to open at 225 N. Washington St. in Rockville Town Square, taking over the former Dawson’s Market space, which closed this past summer after twelve years. The location is now officially coming soon, as it has been added to the Trader Joe’s website.

After a temporary closure of the Woodley Gardens shopping center in Rockville that lasted for more than a week, Carmen’s Italian Ice announced via social media that the plumbing repair work just passed inspection. Carmen’s will open at 2pm today, Z&Z Manoushe Bakery will open tomorrow (Thursday), and we have not heard from Hard Times or Shanghai Taste about a reopening date, though we would assume Thursday or Friday. The parking lot is still “a mess” according to business owners.

Montgomery County Public Libraries will honor Native American Heritage Month and Military Family Month in November with two special events: a musical storytelling program with Mwalim “DaPhunkee Professor” Peters on November 14 at Rockville Memorial Library, and a discussion with Alexandra N. Jonathan Mohelski, 39, of Rockville, was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter for the 2021 stabbing death of his friend, Brandon Sutherland, after a retrial in Montgomery County Circuit Court, and faces up to ten years in prison with sentencing yet to be scheduled. (more…)


Last week, we reported that ongoing plumbing issues have forced all restaurants in the Woodley Gardens shopping center in Rockville, including Carmen’s Italian Ice, Shanghai Taste, and Z&Z, to temporarily close for repairs. Initially hoping to reopen by Halloween, it now appears the closures will likely extend through the first week of November. (more…)
