Last week, we reported that ongoing plumbing issues have forced all restaurants in the Woodley Gardens shopping center in Rockville, including Carmen’s Italian Ice, Shanghai Taste, and Z&Z, to temporarily close for repairs. The development of Rockville Town Square came following the demolition of the Rockville Mall in 1995, when local residents initiated discussions that laid the groundwork for revitalizing the downtown area. Though it has had its difficulties with restaurant and retail tenants in recent years, things seem to be trending in the right direction. Starbucks has announced that starting November 7, customers in U.S. and Canada company-owned and operated stores will no longer pay extra for customizing their beverage with non-dairy milk – including soymilk, oatmilk, almondmilk and coconutmilk.

The owners of Lone Oak Farm Brewing Company are thrilled have announced the expansion of Lone Oak’s legacy with the opening of Fallen Oak Distilling on the existing brewery property (5000 Olney Laytonsville Road). This will include a speakeasy that will “transport you to the 1920s.” Photos below.
