The owners of Lone Oak Farm Brewing Company are thrilled have announced the expansion of Lone Oak’s legacy with the opening of Fallen Oak Distilling on the existing brewery property (5000 Olney Laytonsville Road). This will include a speakeasy that will “transport you to the 1920s.” Photos below.

Earlier this month, we reported that the Big Lots at 20926 Frederick Rd in the Milestone Shopping Center, Germantown, will be permanently closing. The store recently began its closing sale and is now offering discounts of up to 25% on select items, according to a representative (5%-25% overall, depending on the items). The discounts are expected to increase as the store approaches its anticipated closure, likely right after Christmas. A specific date is not yet available.

First Watch is now open at 12255 Prosperity Dr. in the new White Oak Town Center development. The restaurant is located in a corner space with a large outdoor patio, across from the future grocery store anchor that remains to be determined (but appears to be Amazon Fresh again). For the grand opening, First Watch is offering customers who dine Monday, October 28 through Friday, November 1 a free cup of coffee with their meal.

On Thursday, we reported that Hard Times Cafe at 1117 Nelson St in Rockville temporarily closed again due to ongoing plumbing issues in the Woodley Gardens shopping center. The restaurant had previously shut down during the week of October 14 for similar problems and originally reopened in July after a closure that started in September 2023 due to plumbing issues.
