After more than a decade of planning, growing, and distilling, DC residents Megan Draheim and David Harris will open Song Dog Farm Distillery on Sunday, October 12, in the heart of the Montgomery County Agricultural Reserve. Located on a 29-acre property at 18100 Bucklodge Road in Boyds, the farm distillery will feature on-site production of bourbon, rye, gin, vodka, liqueurs, and ready-to-pour cocktails. The venue will also include a tasting room, cocktail bar, and host year-round events celebrating local agriculture and craft spirits.

A small Maryland restaurant has found itself at the center of a viral food frenzy. The Original Rocky’s Pizza Cascade & Creative Kitchen, located in Cascade, MD (Washington County), sold out of cheesesteaks multiple times this past week after a Facebook post praising their “true Philly-style” sandwich took off in the popular local group The Frederick Fatty.

Since its closing in 2013, the absence of Roy’s Place has left a hole in the hearts of many current and former Montgomery County residents. According to the now-defunct Roy’s Place website, the restaurant first opened in Rockville in 1955, offering more than 200 sandwiches. After a couple of moves within Rockville, it relocated to 2 E. Diamond Ave. in Olde Towne Gaithersburg in 1971, where it became a local institution. (more…)
