California Tortilla has closed one of its Gaithersburg locations permanently. According to a sign on the door at 255 Spectrum Ave at the Spectrum Town Center, the restaurant closed its doors on Wednesday, November 27th.
Hangry Joe’s has signed on to open a new location at 13811 Outlet Dr. in Briggs Chaney Marketplace. It will be taking over a space that has been vacant for a few years and previously occupied by Metro PCS, between Mimi’s Nails and H&R Block.

Back in May we let you know that Dirty Dough is coming to 36B Maryland Ave in Rockville Town Square. The cookie shop will be taking over the location that was the longtime home of Berry Cup, which closed in the summer of 2022. According to an announcement the company posted on our website, Dirty Dough is currently hiring and preparing for a December opening.
‘Khana a Claypot Grille’ closed permanently at the end of September after approximately ten years at 15616 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville. Its replacement did not take long to sign on at the once again fully leased Burtonsville Town Square shopping center with Quickway signing a lease to open a new restaurant.
Eater DC recently released its list of “Best Chinese Restaurants Around DC” and seven Maryland restaurants made the list, including six from right here in Montgomery County. We take a look at the seven Maryland restaurants that made the list below:
Arby’s closed its last Montgomery County location at 11710 Rockville Pike in North Bethesda back in May of 2021. McDonald’s will be its replacement and a permit valued at $1.15 million was issued earlier this fall. Construction has now begun.
Back in September we let you know that L&L Hawaiian Barbecue will open its first Maryland location right here in Montgomery County at 785 Rockville Pike, Suite G, in the Ritchie Center (Rockville). The restaurant will take over the space formerly occupied by Superbowl Noodle House, which permanently closed in March. Now we know the restaurant plans to open in January 2025 or sooner, according to the restaurant.
Charlie Palmer Steak DC has announced that it will close its DC location at 101 Constitution Ave. permanently on Friday, November 29th.
