Restaurant industry professionals and their allies gathered Sunday night at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center for the 42nd Annual RAMMYS Awards Gala. Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington announced winners and a range of special distinctions, celebrating excellence in long-standing categories that range from individual professional honors to accolades celebrating culinary concepts and service. The “Hottest Sandwich Shop” award went to Colada Shop, which has locations in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

The Lady Vintner is coming to the lower level of the BLVD Forty Four high-rise apartment tower located at 42 Maryland Ave in Rockville. It will be taking over the space previously occupied by Pour Vino N Hops. The bar plans to offer high-end wine and beer and will feature an in-house sommelier. (more…)


Twenty woman-owned restaurants and other food-related retail ventures in the Washington, DC and Los Angeles areas, learned today that they will receive $5,000 grants, and potentially even more valuable mentoring and training from leaders in the industry, to help their businesses thrive.  This includes Montgomery County’s very own Scratch Kitchen in Olney. Eater DC has released its list of “Hottest New Brunches to Try Around D.C.” with most restaurants on the list being in DC proper and just one from Maryland. The Maryland restaurant is none other than San Pancho Burritos, which recently opened at 7056 Carroll Ave in Takoma Park.
