Takoma Beverage Company has earned a major regional nod, making Eater DC’s newest list of “The 16 Best Coffee Shops Around DC.” The Takoma Park café, located at 6917 Laurel Avenue, was the only Maryland coffee shop to appear on the list.

PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans is moving forward with its second Montgomery County location, this time in Gaithersburg’s upcoming North Pointe at Flower Hill development. According to Maryland Newsletters, the company has secured a permit valued at $200,000 for construction to begin, with the shop expected to open in early 2026.

Gertrude Ehrlich, a Jewish refugee who fled Nazi controlled Austria and later became one of Georgia College’s first international students, died last month in Gaithersburg at 102 after a long career as a professor and author.

Three years ago today, on November 27, 2022, Montgomery County residents witnessed one of the most dramatic and widely watched rescue operations in recent local history. A small plane crashed into a power line tower near Goshen Road and Rothbury Drive in the Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village area, leaving two people suspended more than one hundred feet above the ground for hours as crews worked through the night to reach them. The rankings were determined by examining three main public pillars of trust, customer trust, potential investor trust, and potential employee trust, as well as evaluating online remarks.

The Mid-Atlantic Sports Card Show, the largest inside the Beltway, is making room for a quieter start to the hobby’s busiest day. The show,  which also features a large selection of Pokémon cards, returns to the Silver Spring Civic Center this Saturday, 11/29 from 10am to 3pm. Early admission begins at 9am, but founders Ryan and Mariana McCormick have added a special 8:30am entry time for children with sensory needs.
