In April, Biz Journals reported that Unibal-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) had defaulted on a roughly $235 million securitized loan tied to Westfield Wheaton, the largest mall in suburban Maryland (DC Region) and the fourth largest in the Greater Washington area. After a four+ year battle with an aggressive form of Medulloblastoma, 10-year-old Kasey Zachmann of Chevy Chase passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, according to the Lilabean Foundation. The community is now raising funds through a SpotFund fundraiser for her funeral and burial.

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will offer low-cost adult bike classes this fall, including 11 Learn to Ride sessions, one Basic Skills class, and two free walk-up e-scooter classes, with registration required and bicycles and helmets provided for participants.

The latest housing data from July indicates that the average number of days a home stays on the market in Montgomery County, Md. and Washington, D.C. has increased to 31 days, a 35% increase above the five-year July average of 23 days, according to new data from the Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS® (GCAAR).
