Cabin John ABS Liquor & Wine Temporarily Closes
The Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Service’s Liquor & Wine store located at 11301 Seven Locks Road in Potomac has temporarily closed after an employee was possibly exposed to COVID-19.

Sports & Social is Coming to Pike & Rose!
It was announced today Sports & Social, a sports restaurant, gaming venue, and social lounge plans to open a new location in Pike & Rose.
Montgomery & Wheaton Mall Openings
Food courts are back open in Montgomery County. Montgomery Mall has opened theirs up at 25% capacity while Wheaton Mall has theirs open at 50% capacity. In February, Montgomery Mall had turned a portion of its outdoor garage into an “enchanted forest dining area” to provide a space for shoppers to dine.
Toys R Us Plans to Have Stores Again
Back in 2018, Toys R Us closed the doors to all of their stores. The toy store, which had its first ever location in MoCo, had experienced declining sales for years and filed for bankruptcy in the year prior.

Montgomery & Wheaton Mall Owner Looking to Sell Properties
The Los Angeles Business Journal is reporting that Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) plans to sell all of it’s US holdings in 2022. This would include both Westfield Montgomery and Westfield Wheaton.

Mayorga Organics Moving to Baltimore
According to a report in the Baltimore Business Journal, Miami based Mayorga Organics will be moving its roastery and distribution center from Rockville to Baltimore later this year.
Potomac Petals & Plants (former site of Behnke’s) is Closing
Potomac Petals & Plants, located at 9545 River Rd, announced on social media that they were currently running a store closing sale. The site of the nursery is going to be redeveloped into a senior community.

Hundreds of fans packed City Place Mall (now Ellsworth Place) in Silver Spring for a free Rihanna concert in 2005. At the time, ‘Pon De Replay’ was her biggest hit. We were told officials from either the mall or the concert were offering freebies to get people inside for the up and coming singer’s concert. Photos below by Sara Feldman Kuhn.
