rue21 will be opening a new location at Westfield Wheaton Mall (11160 Veirs Mill Rd) this summer.
The Pennsylvania based company designs clothes that, “appeal to people who desire, wish, or feel to be 21.” rue21’s instore brands include rue21 etc.!, CARBON elements, RAE, true by rue21, ruebeauty, ruebleu SWIM, and rueDecor.
Sports Nation, a memorabilia and apparel store that sells licensed athletic apparel, has closed in Montgomery Mall.
The store opened its Montgomery Mall location in the summer of 2018, giving it a 3.5 year run at the mall.

AMC now lists “AMC Montgomery 16” at 7101 Democracy Blvd (Westfield Montgomery Mall) in Bethesda, the former site of ArcLight Cinema, on its website. ArcLight announced back in April that due to losses during the pandemic, they would not be reopening any of their locations, including the one at Montgomery Mall.
A spokesperson for Westfield Montgomery’s parent company Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW), wrote in an email to Bethesda Beat on Monday that they had “nothing to announce officially yet,” in regards to the theater.

Gelato Galaxy has closed in Montgomery Mall, after less than six months in the food court.
Gelato Galaxy opened in the Montgomery Mall food court back in August of 2021 in the location that was previously home to Coldstone Creamery in the middle of the Westfield Montgomery food court.
Hook & Reel at 11160 L-10 Veirs Mill Road in Wheaton, (Wheaton Mall), is now looking at a February opening, according to a representative from Westfield Wheaton. The restaurant is currently waiting on final inspections.
Hook & Reel is taking over the two vacant storefronts between Party City and the old Bar Louie.
Back in November of 2020, we let you know that Jongro BBQ, a popular New York Korean BBQ restaurant, is opening up shop at Wheaton Mall. The latest update we have received from Westfield Wheaton is that the restaurant is on schedule to open next month.
The restaurant received its alcohol license from the county on January 6th.
Last December we told you that GameWorks and The Works Kitchen were coming to the lower level of Westfield Montgomery Mall, next to Old Navy. Unfortunately, the company announced this week that it has closed all of itslocations and will no longer be opening any new ones.
