On Friday, Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) officers arrested a suspect who left a Glenmont 7-11 with a suspicious bulge and entered a white Nissan Altima on Georgia Ave with a passenger holding a handgun, leading to the recovery of a Glock 27 and two loaded magazines. (more…)

In coordination with Montgomery County and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro), the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the State Highway Administration (SHA) have agreed to make almost seven miles of bus-only lanes on MD 97 (Georgia Avenue) between Silver Spring and Glenmont permanent.

Originally built in 1952, the Glenmont Shopping Center, known for its iconic “Arcade” sign, holds fond memories for county residents who grew up between the 1950s and 1990s. However, over the past two decades, many have called for the area’s redevelopment. Enter The Montgonion, a satirical news website known for its fictional and humorous takes on Montgomery County’s current events, social issues, and politics. The site decided to “step in” with a tongue-in-cheek update on the future of the shopping center.
