According to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), a 4th District officer fatally shot an armed man after responding to a reported assault in Wheaton-Glenmont 0n Saturday after the man did not comply to multiple commands.

MCPD Update: “On Saturday, September 21, 2024, at approximately 7:49 p.m., 4th District officers responded to the location for the report of an assault in progress.

Captain David Smith, Commander of the Montgomery County Police Department’s (MCPD) fourth district, shared information on Wednesday regarding the arrest of three people (two separate incidents) and recovery of a stolen vehicle.
Montgomery Parks and the Montgomery Parks Foundation have announced the commission of a mural for the park activity building at Glenmont Local Park (3201 Randolph Road) in Wheaton-Glenmont. Now we know that a $500K permit has been granted for construction to begin on the space, per Maryland Newsletters.
