Dor-Ne Corset Shoppe, the longtime specialty lingerie retailer in downtown Silver Spring, has announced that a buyer has been found for the business, potentially preserving the nearly century-old shop.

A Montgomery County jury found Carlo Yaque del Cid, 32, of Hyattsville, guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the 2022 death of Edvin Agustin Leon. The jury also convicted him of attempted first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder for the shooting of a second victim, along with two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence and participation in a criminal organization resulting in death.
Detectives with the Montgomery County Department of Police are asking for the public’s help identifying several suspects connected to a first-degree assault that occurred February 4 at Wheaton Mall. Police said the incident happened at approximately 12 pm when the victim entered a restroom inside the mall.
Organizers of the Wheaton Arts Parade are seeking temporary storage space for the large art floats used in the event after learning the sculptures must be moved from their current location by April 1. Montgomery County Police 3rd District Commander Jason Cokinos said in a post on Friday that officers have seized five illegally possessed guns in Silver Spring during the week, highlighting a series of enforcement actions aimed at preventing shootings and other violent crimes in the area.
