Kyriakos Savvas “Jerry” Tselios, a former co-owner of the longtime Wheaton staple Ferdinand’s Restaurant and a cherished member of the local Greek community, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025. He was 77.

A grandfather from Silver Spring won $770,000 after discovering his Multi-Match ticket had matched all six numbers more than a week after purchasing it at Bel Pre Beer & Wine, 2251 Bel Pre Road. The winner, who claimed the prize on November 14, said his grandchildren will benefit from his winnings, while the retailer received a $1,000 bonus for selling the jackpot ticket. Goldie Hawn, one of Montgomery County’s most famous natives, turns 80 on Friday, November 21. A couple weeks back, the beloved actress recently shared a TikTok video that left fans in awe of her energy and spirit. As reported by Parade, Hawn hopped onto a mini trampoline for what she calls “mindful movement,” bouncing, twirling, and throwing her arms into the air while a Dua Lipa song played in the background.

Top Pot Hot Pot & K BBQ is bringing its popular all you can eat concept to Maryland, taking over the former Red Lobster space at 8533 Georgia Avenue in Downtown Silver Spring. The building was home to Red Lobster until May 2024, and will soon welcome a completely new dining experience built around interactive cooking, fresh ingredients, and an expansive menu.

Maryland’s newest disc-golf addition is already drawing a crowd. Montgomery Parks softly opened its first-ever 18-hole disc golf course at Northwest Branch Recreational Park in Silver Spring on November 8, and local players wasted no time hitting the fairways. More than 100 rounds were played and logged on UDisc, one of the sport’s most widely used apps, during the course’s opening weekend.

Second-year carpentry, HVAC, and electrical students from Seneca Valley High School participated in a hands-on construction site tour hosted by Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, where they observed professionals at work and explored Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology.

The visit also marked the beginning of a potential partnership that could provide students with additional real-world experience, including constructing storage units for the reopening of Northwood High School.
