The annual Takoma Park Folk Festival will bring a full day of music, art, and community spirit to the area on Sunday, September 7, 2025 from 10:30am until 6pm. The popular festival, held at Takoma Park Middle School (7611 Piney Branch Road, Takoma Park, MD 20912) will feature performances by local and regional musicians, artisan vendors, family-friendly activities, and food from a variety of local vendors.
Italian Kitchen, the family-owned restaurant that has served the Silver Spring community for the last ten years, has permanently closed its doors. While no official announcement has been made, its status has been updated to “permanently closed” on Google and other online platforms.
Montgomery County will celebrate its 17th annual African Heritage Month Proclamation Celebration on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 6:00pm at the Silver Spring Civic Center. In a swift and coordinated response by the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), a juvenile suspect was apprehended following an attempted arson incident in Downtown Silver Spring. Commander Jason Cokinos reported the arrest via social media at 10:53pm on the evening of the incident.
On Saturday, August 30th, a fire engulfed a two-story home on the 2300 block of Cranberry Terrace in Aspen Hill. According to updates from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS), the call for assistance came in at 6:19 p.m., when flames were already visible on the first and second floors of the residence. Fortunately, no occupants were present at the time of the fire.
