John Lyon, a cherished radio personality known for his vibrant career in the Washington D.C. area and for enduring the profound personal tragedy of his daughters, Sheila and Katherine, going missing from the Wheaton area in Montgomery County, MD has passed away at the age of 85.

Anabelle Jaffe dedicated more than 60 years of her life to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in Maryland. Now, at 103 years old and no longer working with the school system, she enjoys life at The Ring House in Rockville, as noted by community member Lisa Banos, who attended Wheaton High School when Jaffe was a guidance counselor there.

At the beginning of this year, we let you know that McDonald’s closed permanently in the Westfield Wheaton mall food court (11160 Veirs Mill Rd.) and that it will be replaced by Burger King. BK has just received a permit valued at $239K to begin work on the transition, which should be open in the next few months.
