Montgomery County has sent out the following alert: “Due to icy conditions, both directions of Frederick Rd (MD 355) are blocked between Shady Grove Rd and Ridgemont Ave. Expect significant delays. Seek alternate route.”

Traffic incidents have caused major delays on both I-270 and I-495 in Montgomery County on Monday morning.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call in the area of Russell Ave and Montgomery Village Ave, near the now-closed Lakeforest Mall, for a collision and “inland water rescue” after the vehicle was driven into the pond at the intersection.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a vehicle fire in the area of Shady Grove Road and Corporate Boulevard, close to the I-270 ramp. According to, MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the vehicle fire involves an HVAC work vehicle. The fire has been extinguished and some lanes remain blocked as crews work to clear the vehicle.
