The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is reminding residents that, as of Tuesday, July 1, drivers are prohibited from making right turns at red traffic signals in designated downtown and town center areas across the county. The policy, part of the Safe Streets Act of 2023 (Bill 11-23), aims to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety in some of Montgomery County’s busiest corridors. (more…)
A significant collision occurred this morning on the eastbound lanes of MD200 (ICC) between New Hampshire Avenue and Route 29. The incident involved a pedestrian in the highway work zone, causing immediate response from several emergency services.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT), more than 200 “No Turn on Red” signs have recently been installed across Montgomery County as part of the Safe Streets Act of 2023 (MC Bill 11-23). A collision involving downed wires in Germantown has Frederick Road currently shut down in both directions at Brink Road on Wednesday morning, according to MCPD.
Beginning on or about September 22, 2025, Sligo Creek Parkway, south of Wayne Avenue, will be closed for approximately two months as Purple Line crews begin track installation at the intersection. Pedestrian access will remain open through the closure.
