A Germantown man won a $50,000 top prize in the Maryland Lottery’s Bonus Match 5 drawing on October 30, years after missing out on a previous win when he forgot to play his usual numbers. He purchased the winning ticket at Kingsview Beer and Wine in Germantown, which will receive a $500 bonus, and plans to use part of his winnings toward a future trip to Italy with his wife. Second-year carpentry, HVAC, and electrical students from Seneca Valley High School participated in a hands-on construction site tour hosted by Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, where they observed professionals at work and explored Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology.

The visit also marked the beginning of a potential partnership that could provide students with additional real-world experience, including constructing storage units for the reopening of Northwood High School.


Flavor Hive’s return to Germantown has drawn a massive crowd. By 11:15am, hundreds of people had already formed a line outside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, eagerly waiting to grab a taste of the viral food truck’s famous chip bag meals and custom bowls. Organizers expect thousands of attendees throughout the day as the event continues until 8pm.
