Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating, Jeremy Nathan Levitt, a missing 28-year-old from Germantown.

Levitt was last seen on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at approximately 11 p.m., walking in the 20500 block of Neerwinder Street.  Levitt is 5-feet, 6-inches and weighs 160 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown curly hair.  He was last seen wearing an unknown color baseball hat, a brown Carhart jacket, gray sweatpants and brown hiking boots.  Family and police are concerned for his welfare.


Montgomery Parks is hosting a free Roller Disco on Friday, April 14, at the inline skating rink at Ridge Road Recreational Park. The event is open to all ages. “We are excited to bring Roller Disco to the community,” said Michael Coppersmith, manager of Montgomery Parks Activation Program. “We encourage guests to go all out and embrace the theme and enjoy music from the ‘70s and ‘80s.”

Permanent signage is up at New Grand Mart at 13069 Wisteria Drive in the Germantown Plaza shopping center. The Korean grocery chain, which has several locations across Maryland and Virginia, is is taking over the space previously occupied by Lotte Plaza, which closed in November. According to its website, “New Grand Mart carries a variety of fresh produce, fish, meats, and ethnic specialty items that is hard for other markets to match.”  No opening date has been announced. Germantown Plaza is also home to Mangino’s Pizza, Planet Fitness, and Zen Leaf.

MoCo native Jordan Hawkins leads the #4 seed UConn Huskies (30-8, 13-7 Big East) against the #5 seed San Diego State Aztecs (32-6, 15-3 MWC) at 9:20 pm tonight in the NCAA Tournament National Championship.

Jordan Hawkins averages three made 3-pointers per game for the Huskies, averaging 16.2 points per game with a 38.6% three point shooting percentage. Hawkins is a Montgomery County native who attended Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Germantown and Gaithersburg High School for his freshman and sophomore years before transferring to DeMatha. His UConn Huskies enter the game at 7.5 point favorites.


Montgomery County Police responded to reports of shots fired around 2pm on Sunday April 2.  According to MCPD, the incident occurred near the town houses on Celebration Way, off Middlebrook Rd in Germantown (across from Germantown Commons Shopping Center) and stemmed from an argument between several individuals which led to shots being fired. There were no injuries reported and there is believed to be no threat to the community at this time. Two juveniles that were seen running away from the scene were taken into custody but neither was identified as the shooter. The shooter is believed to have left the scene in a vehicle.

The Germantown WIC Office has closed permanently, according to an email sent to families last week. Families are being directed to the Gaithersburg office a few miles away. WIC is a Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children. It is an American federal assistance program of the Food and Nutrition Service of the United States Department of Agriculture for healthcare and nutrition of low-income pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and children under the age of five. 25 student-athletes from five different Montgomery County  high schools are currently going through leadership training with Adam Bradley’s Lead ‘Em Up to prepare for the Student-Athlete Mentor Program (SAMP), created by Joseph Hooks and the 480 Club.

The participating student-athletes had to interview in order to be hired for the stipend, which is fully funded by the Montgomery County Department of Health & Humans Services (DHHS). After the student-athletes go through an 8-part Lead ‘Em Up training, they will begin to serve as mentors for the program.


Montgomery Parks, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, has canceled its Petals and Paws event that was scheduled for Saturday, April 1, 2023, due to the inclement weather forecast. The event will not be rescheduled. Montgomery Parks is hosting a variety of events this spring. Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police- Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged a 16-year-old juvenile from Rockville and a 17-year-old juvenile from Washington D.C. for a strong-arm carjacking that occurred in Germantown on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

On March 25, at approximately 4:36 p.m., 5th District Officers responded to the Sunoco gas station in the 19200 block of Frederick Road for the report of a carjacking that just occurred.  The investigation by detectives determined that the adult male victim finished pumping his gas and attempted to enter his car when he observed the juveniles running towards him. The juveniles forced the door open, grabbed ahold of the victim and demanded his keys. The victim complied with the juveniles’ demands. The juveniles entered the victim’s car and attempted to drive away. Unable to drive a manual transmission, the juveniles exited the vehicle and left the scene on foot.
